IXth CONGRESS OF THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR DIALECTOLOGY AND GEOLINGUISTICS
23-27 July 2018, Vilnius, Lithuania

The first Congress of the International Society for Dialectology and Geolinguistics was initiated by the International Society for Dialectology and Geolinguistics (SIDG, http://www.geo-linguistics.org/) in 1993 in Budapest (Hungary). Until now, every three years congresses are organized in different countries-members of the SIDG: in 1997 it was held in Amsterdam (Netherlands), in 2000 – in Lublin (Poland), in 2003 – in Riga (Latvia), in 2006 – in Braga (Portugal), in 2009 – in Maribor (Slovenia), in 2012 – in Vienna (Austria), and in 2015 – in Famagusta (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus). The purpose of these congresses is to promote international cooperation between scientific institutions and researchers, enabling scientists from different countries to share their experience, to present dialectology and geolinguistic studies based on traditional and new methods, and discuss relevant topics in dialectology and geolinguistics. 

Institute of the Lithuanian Language, Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, Šiauliai University and Vilnius University kindly invite you to participate in the IXth CONGRESS OF THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR DIALECTOLOGY AND GEOLINGUISTICS which will be held in Vilnius, Lithuania, July 23–27, 2018. We sincerely hope that this congress will concentrate the academic community on productive work and discussion.
